Frequently Asked Questions about the NDIS
What is the NDIS?
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is an exciting new way of giving people with disability the support they need to achieve their goals. You can check out this video to find out more about the NDIS.
How do I get the NDIS?
If you’re already receiving services and support through the NSW Government, the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) will have your details and contact you when you need to move over to the NDIS.
You can also get in touch directly with the NDIA by calling 1800 800 110 or by visiting the NDIS website.
Are there NDIS tools that can help me?
There are plenty of fact sheets, tools and videos on the NDIS website. There’s also information about the NDIS in different languages. All of these materials can help you make sense of the NDIS and get a better idea of how the scheme will affect you, your family or the person you care for.
How does the NDIS work?
You will be invited to a planning meeting with someone on behalf of the NDIA. At that meeting a plan will be created based on the support you need and the things you want to achieve in the future.
The plan will give you the chance to choose who provides you with the services you need. Previously you may have had limited choice in service providers, under the NDIS you have the freedom to choose organisations that best suit your needs. Northcott is funded under the NDIS and can help you achieve your goals.
When is the NDIS coming to me?
